I'm a PhD student in the Linguistics programme of the Doctoral School in the Humanities. Over 30 years ago I took my first step to my current PhD research: had Easter been in Winter, would Easter Island be located in the Atlantic Ocean? Although I still do not know the answer, I have learnt that the journey into the unknown is as fascinating as watching the adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (who I would like to be when I grow up); however, to date I have managed to become a psychologist, a cultural anthropologist, and a translator.

In my quest for knowledge I combine professional insight with empirical inquiry and hope to uncover how translation strategies for proper names in fantasy literature influence the way their bearers are imagined.
