Cotutelle Doctoral Degrees

The cotutelle programme allows an early career researcher to carry out their PhD research at two universities in two different countries, which means that their project acquires an international dimension. Essentially, the doctoral dissertation is written under the supervision of a Polish and a foreign supervisor, and the degree is awarded by both higher education institutions involved in the cotutelle agreement, which is signed by the participating institutions at the doctoral student's request. Depending on an individual young researcher’s needs, the supervisor and co-supervisor working at partner universities create a tailor-made programme of study for each student.

Cotutelle doctoral degree programmes not only enable PhD students to conduct research in two different research environments, but also create unique opportunities for them to embark on an international academic career and enhance their employment opportunities on the global scale.

Currently, one of the PhD students at the Jagiellonian University Doctoral School in the Humanities, recipient of the French Government Scholarship, is participating in a cotutelle programme.

We hope more young researchers will be ready to join the scheme.
